Deadline is reporting that It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Charlie Day and Ice Cube are in early talks with New Line to star in a comedy titled FIST FIGHT. Producers Shawn Levy, Billy Rosenberg and Max Greenfield are currently searching for a director for the project, and they are looking to start production in September.
Van Robichaux and Evan Susser wrote the FIST FIGHT script, and Deadline describes the tone of the film as a grown-up version of the 1987 comedy THREE O'CLOCK HIGH, with Day playing a "mild-mannered English teacher who is put to the test when a colleague (Ice Cube) who thinks he is trying to get him fired challenges him to a fist fight after school."
Yes, FIST FIGHT sounds a lot like the critically-panned 2001 Tim Allen comedy JOE SOMEBODY, but I'm still interested in seeing Charlie Day throwing down with Ice Cube.
Charlie Day can be seen next in the VACATION reboot on July 29, 2015, and the Ice Cube-produced N.W.A. biopic STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON will hit theaters on August 14, 2015.
