Charlie Cox thinks Daredevil would have to be ‘reimagined’ in the MCU

It has been a few years but I STILL miss Netflix’s Daredevil and I STILL haven’t gotten over its untimely end after its third season because I believe the show was still creatively viable and had many more stories to tell. One of the best things to come out of the show was Charlie Cox, who really gave us our definitive live-action version of Matt Murdock aka Daredevil and that’s why so many fans want him back either in a new season of the show or for him to remain the character in the current MCU. While it’s heavily rumored that he MIGHT be making an appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, nothing has been confirmed, but Charlie Cox believes that if his Daredevil did join the MCU, he would have to be reimagined a bit.

Charlie Cox took the time to open up about the potential future of Matt Murdock and other Daredevil characters in the MCU and that footage of Cox speaking on the matter at MCM Comic-Con was recently uploaded to YouTube by DriiftyFilm. Needless to say, Cox is still playing coy about if he’s coming back but he’s not sure if Daredevil would be the same as it was on Netflix and that it may need to change a bit if he were to join the MCU. Here is what he had to say:

“Look, a lot of time’s passed, so God knows if anything can for us in the future. I really don’t know. Obviously, if something were to happen, that would be thrilling. But because enough time has passed, I would imagine it would have to be a kind of reimagining. Assuming that they choose to use us, it would be an interesting scenario, because it would be a reimagining but with the same foundation. So, I don’t know what it would look like.”

Look, I’ll take any version of Charlie Cox as Daredevil at this point, and, by extension, I’d love to see some of the supporting characters from that show also maintain their roles in the MCU. I really think they nailed the casting on that series and it would be a shame to lose some of them and go back to the drawing board. Cox doesn’t rule out continued storylines for the original characters because he mentioned that there are still some “loose ends” that need to be tied up. That being said, even if Cox doesn’t get to revisit that world again, he’s proud of how everything turned out for the show in the end:

“I know that there’s so many great storylines to tell. We never really got into the Bullseye stuff. You know, there’s an unfinished history with Karen, that we got to almost got to get there in season 2. There are a lot of loose ends we’d like to tie up. But, having said all of that, I’m really proud of what we did. We ended on a high note and I’d rather that than, just because there is a huge fan base, to run into the ground and end up… suddenly end up with a fourth bad season that didn’t really work and too much time had passed, and everyone is like, ‘Charlie Cox is in his 60s now, why is he playing that role?'”

The good news is that while the cast is happy with the series and its run, they’d all be down to return if the opportunity came up. Vincent D’Onofrio has expressed a big interest in returning as Kingpin and Charlie Cox, if he’s not lying about being in Spider-Man: No Way Home would be more than happy to come back as Daredevil. Let’s make it happen, Marvel!!!!!

What changes do YOU think would happen with the Daredevil character if he joined the MCU?
