Channing Tatum, Tilda Swinton, & Ralph Fiennes join The Coens’ Hail, Caesar!

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

When it comes to pulling together stellar ensemble casting, Joel and Ethan Coen are at the top of the list of filmmakers capable of astonishing combinations of actors and actresses, many whom you would never expect to do a comedy. After the great group in BURN AFTER READING, the Coens went through a string of dark comedies and dramas and now will return with HAIL, CAESAR starring George Clooney and Josh Brolin.

Added to that cast are three more actors who instantly increase how excited I am for this movie. The Hollywood Reporter, HAIL, CAESAR! will now also include Tilda Swinton, Ralph Fiennes, and Channing Tatum in the tale of Eddie Mannix (Clooney), a fixer for Hollywood studios in the 1950s. Tatum will play a movie star along the lines of Gene Kelly, Fiennes would play film director Laurence Lorenz, and Tilda Swinton will take on the part of a Hollywood gossip columnist.

Swinton and Fiennes recently appeared together in Wes Anderson‘s THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL, both turning in excellent performances. Tatum stretched his comedic muscles most recently in 22 JUMP STREET and his well regarded dance moves should serve him well as a Gene Kelly type. All together, I am anticipating something truly memorable out of HAIL, CAESAR! and this casting announcement definitely helps.

HAIL, CAESAR currently has no release date but expect to see it by the end of this year at the earliest.
