Chad Stahelski will solo-direct John Wick 2

JOHN WICK 2 is set to start production this fall, however David Leitch won't be behind the camera for the sequel. Leitch co-directed the first movie with Chad Stahelski, and Collider has learned that Stahelski will be helming the follow-up on his own, although Leitch is still attached to the film as an executive producer.

The duo have both been approached to direct other movies (earlier this year it was rumored that they were being courted to direct a DC film), so it's possible that Leitch won't be returning for JOHN WICK 2 due to commitments to a different project, especially since the site claims that they've "been hearing a few things." While nothing has been confirmed yet, we'll know for sure if there's an announcement in the near future.

Leitch not coming back probably won't have a negative effect on the quality of the movie, but I do hope that he and Stahelski are planning on directing something together again. What do you think Keanu Reeves' Wick will be up to in the sequel? Maybe he's opened up an animal shelter following the events from the first film, and it gets firebombed when his past catches up with him?

JOHN WICK 2 doesn't have a release date yet, but it will likely open sometime next year.
