Set (Gerard Butler), the merciless god of darkness, has taken over the throne of Egypt and plunged the once peaceful and prosperous empire into chaos and conflict. Few dare to rebel against him. A young thief, whose love was taken captive by the god, seeks to dethrone and defeat Set with the aid of the powerful god Horus (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and a shit load of ridiculous CGI. Witness the trailer for GODS OF EGYPT!
Alex Proyas will always be known for bringing an amazing vision to both THE CROW and DARK CITY. His filmography has been shaky, at best, since then. Unfortunately for fans of his early work, GODS OF EGYPT is more representative of his latter material. Some of the actors here seem like they would be fun to watch, but are easily eclipsed by the Gods-awful acting of Brenton Thwaites. I'm not going to pretend he's the only problem with this trailer, though. On the other hand, I have the marketing team to thank for saving me some money come next February. For those of you craving more Egyptian marketing action, check out two new posters below that somone was actually paid for.
