When you think of HELLRAISER you think of Cenobites. You can’t have a good HELLRAISER movie without Pinhead’s extra-dimensional crew to go along with it. If you’re not squirming at the sheer sight of S&M folk who went whip crazy, then you’re not getting the full experience.
So it’s expected, right? HELLRAISER: REVELATIONS should and will have Cenobites but now the question is how many and how well will their presence be executed? Bloody-Disgusting reported on a few words from Sanny Van Heteren (star of REVELATIONS) and it looks like we’re not going to get the full entree. Dimension’s decided to down size our Happy Meal and wimp out on the prize…maybe take away a few fries and leave out the ice in our drink.
So some are getting cut and others are staying for good. And the popular kids on the block are…
“Due to the budget, it’s limited,” Van Heteren told BD. “It’s basically Chatterer, Pinhead, and ‘pseudo-Pinhead’.”
Obviously Pinhead’s going to make it on screen because he’s f*cking Pinhead. However that leaves us with only two other Cenobites. Could the studio really not afford at least another one? With only three Cenobites, no Doug Bradley and lots of bad mojo going on between fans and Dimension, it’s going to be tough love from here on out. While the limited number of Cenobites on screen might be a turnoff to some fans, it’ll be interesting to see how they execute this flick with the tools they’ve got.
