Cena says it would be a “dream” to team with Johnson for Fast & Furious

Dwayne Johnson and John Cena are two very big men who have made a living fighting other very big men as wrestling superstars. Johnson has made a very successful leap into acting, and Cena is hot on his trail with a slew of hits himself. One would think they would make perfect teammates in, say, a FAST AND FURIOUS movie, which is something Cena says would be a dream come true for him.

Promoting his new movie BLOCKERS, Cena spoke with EW and was asked if he would ever want to team up with Johnson for a FAST AND FURIOUS movie. Though he doesn’t often fantasize about working with any one actor, he did say Johnson is a name at the top of his list.

That stuff is beyond my control, but I would absolutely love that opportunity. That, for me, would be a dream. I’m never really like, ‘Oh, I’d like to work with this person,’ but I just think between our chemistry in the live performance setting, there’s something certainly there with The Rock. So that would be my one name on the wish list.

Who knows what form their relationship would take in a movie, but if they were rivals, it would not be the first time they went toe-to-toe. Johnson and Cena famously wrestled each other at Wrestlemania in 2012 and 2013 (Johnson winning the first, Cena the second) with much fanfare and publicity behind the matches. Should they have an on-screen fight, it would probably involve more guns, cars, and, surely, more throwing of massive objects like ovens, boulders, and tree trunks.

Johnson has certainly become a massive star thanks to his massive action movies, but Cena’s movie career has been dominated primarily by comedies. Movies like TRAINWRECK, DADDY’S HOME 2, SISTERS, and the upcoming BLOCKERS, have all made him an unlikely comedy star. He will have his first foray into blockbuster territory this year with the BUMBLEBEE movie come December.

I don't think I'm alone in saying this should definitely happen now as fast as humanly possible. Johnson will be doing his FAST AND FURIOUS spinoff movie with Jason Statham here soon, and maybe there could be room for Cena as an addition to the team. Think of it as the start of a new, more badass alternative team to the one he's part of in the main FAST AND FURIOUS movies. 

BLOCKERS is in theaters April 6.
