Man, this makes me feel really old. It was thirty years ago that John Hughes premiered the film that would become synonymous with his career. THE BREAKFAST CLUB hit theaters in 1985 and gave us the teen ensemble comedy that was actually a heartfelt drama about coming of age and fitting in unlike anything we have really seen before or since. Now, on the verge of the film's special edition hitting Blu-ray and DVD, THE BREAKFAST CLUB is coming back to theaters.
Universal Pictures and Fathom Events are teaming up for a limited run this March 26th and 31st. The film will be a remastered version of THE BREAKFAST CLUB which will also be shown with a featurette with the cast and crew discussing the impact of the film.
I love THE BREAKFAST CLUB and find that it still lives up even three decades after it was released. Unlike some other films from John Hughes, this movie both encapsulates the 1980s but also feels incredibly contemporary. This seems like a great event to check out this Valentine's Day eve no matter if you are a brain, an athlete, a basket case, aprincess, or a criminal.
The theatrical re-release of THE BREAKFAST CLUB will arrive just after the special edition Blu-ray release of the film as well as The John Hughes Yearbook Collection boxset which also includes SIXTEEN CANDLES and WEIRD SCIENCE (click those links to purchase via Amazon). Both arrive on March 10th. Find the details below.
