CBS details their reboot of The Twilight Zone, announces production window

There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone, and it's planning to make a return to the small screen courtesy of CBS Access.

While speaking with Deadline following CBS' All Access' Television Critics Association panel, EVP of original content at the network Julie McNamara offered an update related to the reboot of one of television history's greatest sci-fi anthology programs, THE TWILIGHT ZONE.

"We have a room, we have a first season of concepts, outlines, scripts — various stages of all these things — of that 10 eps a season. We are well on our way, and we are going to start production in the next couple of months," said McNamara.

As a follow-up to the previous query,  Deadline asked CBS TV Studios president David Stapf who the orchestrator of the series will be. He then explained that, "Because it’s anthological you don’t need to look at it as who’s the showrunner." McNamara then added, "From a production standpoint Greg Yaitanes is overseeing that continuity."

It sounds as if you can chalk THE TWILIGHT ZONE up to being an elaborate group effort, with plenty of writers, directors, and actors contributing to the much anticipated re-imagining of Twilight Zone creator Rod Serling's strange tales of otherworldly phenomenon.

When THE TWILIGHT ZONE makes its return to TV, the anthology-style show is set to be produced by CBS Television Studios, who's partnering with GET OUT and US director Jordan Peele's Monkeypaw Productions, in addition to X-Men alum Simon Kinberg's Genre Films. The show is expected to present long-time fans of the program with new tales to astonish, for what is hoped to be a fresh and timely take on the multi-dimensional premise.
