Casting Two-fer: James Franco joins The Fixer and Courtney Eaton snags a lead role in Gods of Egypt

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Two casting updates for you this morning: one for James Franco and another for an actress you might not be familiar with. The Wrap is reporting that Franco will star in the indie drama THE FIXER for director Ian Olds. The film is based on Olds' dealing with "fixers," people hired by foreign journalists to help translate, facilitate and gain access for their stories. Ian Olds has some history with fixers; he directed the 2009 documentary FIXER: THE TAKING OF AJMAL NAQSHBANDI.

THE FIXER will be about Osman, an Afghan journalist who has been banished from his country to a bohemian community in California. He begins working on the local police blotter, and after deciding to cover the local crime like he did in his native country, gets sucked into some of the shady dealings in the area. James Franco will play Lindsay, an unbalanced hot-tub craftsman who plays a big part in the story for THE FIXER.

Courtney Eaton has only appeared in one film, and it hasn't even out yet. She has a part in the upcoming MAD MAX: FURY ROAD, and THR has learned she has landed a lead role in Alex Proyas' GODS OF EGYPT. The film also stars Gerard Butler, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Brenton Thwaites and Geoffrey Rush, and is about a thief (Thwaites) who teams up with one god (Coster-Waldau) to kill another (Butler). The thief will fall for a slave girl in the film, and she'll be played by Eaton. I have no clue if Courtney Eaton is a good actress or not, but this news does give me an opportunity to show you how sexy she is (see below).

There's no word on a release date for THE FIXER or GODS OF EGYPT at this time.
