Here's some casting news for you this morning. According to Variety, Ben Foster (LONE SURVIVOR) and Holliday Grainger (THE RIOT CLUB) have joined Craig Gillespie's (MILLION DOLLAR ARM) THE FINEST HOURS. Filming is already underway on the Disney film, and it also stars Chris Pine and Casey Affleck.
THE FINEST HOURS is an adaptation of Casey Sherman and Michael J. Tougias’s 2010 book of the same name, is based on the true story of "a rescue attempt by the Coast Guard in 1952 after pair of oil tankers are destroyed during a blizzard." Gillespie's new movie will be in theaters sometime in the Fall of 2015.
Meanwhile, The Wrap is reporting Billy Bob Thornton is in talks for OUR BRAND IS CRISIS, a political dramedy from MANGLEHORN and JOE director David Gordon Green. He'll direct the Warner Bros. movie from a script by THE MEN WHO STARE AT GOATS and TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY scribe Peter Straughan.
The project is being produced by Sandra Bullock (who also stars) and George Clooney, and is based on Rachel Boynton's 2005 documentary, which was about "the use of American political campaign strategies in Bolivia by President Clinton's former consultants James Carville and Stan Greenberg." Scoot McNairy will also appear in the film, and production on it will start this fall.
