Casting call states that Wolverine and Gambit will be in X-Men: Apocalypse

Feel free to take the following information with a grain of salt, but if you ask me, it makes all too much sense. As we know, Bryan Singer is plenty busy shooting the biggest installment in the X-MEN franchise, X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. Casting and characters had been flying out left and right and now that filming is underway, all that has settled down in lieu of production art and on-set pictures. That's all fine and dandy, but there are two very important characters who have been quiet on the mutant front; Wolverine and Gambit. Sure, they have spin-off films down the line, but what of Hugh Jackman and Channing Tatum's roles (if any) in APOCALYPSE?

Back in March, El Mayimbe posted that not only would these two actors be making a cameo, but that Halle Berry's Storm would also be showing up. We haven't heard anything on the Halle Berry front but given the end of DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, it would seem a little odd to drop Wolverine completely unless they wanted to tackle that issue in his next solo flick. In any event, a casting call was recently issued giving a synopsis for the flick as well as a rundown of the cast taking part.

X-Men: Apocalypse will follow the super powered mutants battling their most powerful foe yet, the devious and devastatingly dangerous Apocalypse. This legendary villain uses his incredible abilities to alter his physical form, access other mutant superpowers and telekinesis to recruit a cult-like group called the Four Horsemen to be his servants and do his bidding in an all out war against the X-Men.

The cast of X-Men: Apocalypse will feature a who’s who of X-Men characters and some of Hollywood’s most talented performers playing them including Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence (The Hunger Games) as Mystique, Channing Tatum (21 Jump Street) as Gambit, Oscar nominee Michael Fassbender (12 Years a Slave) as Magneto, Golden Globe nominee James McAvoy (The Last King of Scotland) as Charles Xavier, Academy Award nominee Hugh Jackman (Les Misérables) as Wolverine, 2-time Golden Globe nominee Rose Byrne (Neighbors) as Moira MacTaggert, Nicholas Hoult (Warm Bodies) as Beast, Olivia Munn (The Newsroom) as Psylocke, 3-time Screen Actors Guild Award nominee Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones) as Jean Grey, Kodi Smit-McPhee (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) as Nightcrawler, Alexandra Shipp (Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B) as Storm, Tye Sheridan (The Stanford Prison Experiment) as Cyclops and Golden Globe nominee Oscar Isaac (Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens) as the villain Apocalypse.

It's very possible that folks may just be misinformed regarding the cast, but I wouldn't bet on it. Wolverine is way too popular a character to not at least throw him a cameo. Given that they're trying to launch Channing Tatum's Gambit with his own film, I'd say that giving him a tiny morsel of screentime is all too likely. The X-Men films have never really tackled destruction on a massive scale (a la AVENGERS) but I'm willing to bet that any mutant (past or present) 20th Century Fox CAN get, they WILL get, as long as it makes sense from a story standpoint. You certainly won't hear me complaining! Now can we get some confirmation on Quicksilver, already?

X-MEN: APOCALYPSE will hit theaters on May 27, 2016.
