Now that Disney is the proud owner of LucasFilm, we get another STAR WARS movie. YAY!
So come on, Schmoes– help us figure out who should direct STAR WARS: EPISODE VII?
To start with, how cool is it that we even get to have this discussion? While I am thankful to George Lucas for the universe, it’s time to breathe new life into it cinematically. But now that we do have the opportunity to figure out who we think would be best suited for the job…who the heck do we choose??? When news first hit Lucasfilm was selling to Disney, you guys started to throw names out for the next potential director. What were some of the names? J.J. Abrams, Andrew Stanton, Brad Bird, and Guillermo del Toro.
Another thing on the minds of those intrigued by EPISODE VII is the story they plan to go with. It seems that Disney wants to do something original. Will they go with a director who will write the script as well? It’s anyone’s guess at this point. For now, let’s just find someone to helm this thing and worry about the rest of that business later. I am excited to see what you guys come up with.
Do. Or do not. There is no try. Give us your directing choice for STAR WARS: EPISODE VII!
RESULTS FROM PREVIOUS ‘CAST THIS’: WHO SHOULD DIRECT THE EXPENDABLES 3?
1. John Woo 2. John McTiernan 3. Walter Hill
John Woo was undoubtedly the clear winner here. The second pick, John McTiernan was good, but may not work until he gets his legal troubles out of the way. If Woo was never brought up, I would have suggested McTiernan as well. Walter Hill barely slid into the third spot. Renny Harlin was giving him a run for his money. There was mention that Tony Scott would have been a good choice as well if he were still with us. I think he would have been a great option, too.
