Ready to cast a Brother-Sister team?
Recently it was confirmed that Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver would be part of THE AVENGERS 2 roster. Whedon said that they kind of represent a part of the world that wouldn’t necessarily agree with THE AVENGERS. The two definitely won’t be making anything easier, and Whedon is not about to put any characters in the second installment that will make anything easier.
Every once in awhile there’s a role that I can’t exactly think of the right person for, and this is one of those cases. I’ve seen a few people say Eva Green for Wanda/Scarlet Witch and Tom Felton/Draco Malfoy for Pietro Maximoff/Quicksilver. Both are interesting choices, though I must say Green would be quite nice. I think that if you are going to have two characters like Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, you have to find actors that will bring something to the role since they aren’t as well known. In fact, Marvel’s second phase will be all about characters that are unfamiliar to the mainstream.
However, I feel like we should mention that the twin duo will have to be scaled back at bit since its actually Fox who have rights to the characters and not Disney. So we can’t say their mutants nor would we be able to mention their father, Magneto. This is a disappointment for me because their origin is key for me, but I guess to audiences that are unaware of the characters because they aren’t as well known as Iron Man or Hulk then maybe it won’t matter. But it sure as hell would make it more interesting. Plus, Hawkeye and Black Widow weren’t household names and that worked out. Enough of this small talk! Get to casting Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, or I’ll hex you!
RESULTS FROM PREVIOUS ‘CAST THIS’: Snake Plissken
1. Josh Holloway 2. Tom Jane 3. Guy Pearce
So as it usually goes for casting a role that was already iconic, I got a ton of votes for the original actor. Obviously Kurt Russell made the role what it is, and some of you are not about to see anyone else take it. But if it does happen, which Studio Canal seems hell bent on making happen, you won’t have much of a choice. Last news we heard of it was March when Joel Silver talked about making it a trilogy. The two people rumored for the lead were Jason Statham and Tom Hardy— you guys chose neither for your top three. Josh Holloway won the crown here with Tom Jane not far behind him. Since LOCKOUT was basically ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK in Space, you guys thought Guy Pearce wouldn’t be too shabby. I agree with all these ideas, but lord knows if we will get that lucky.
