Well the holidays are almost upon us…or have been since the end of Halloween…DAMN THOSE CHRISTMAS TUNES! But, besides the unfortunate cultural obligation to get people things or seeing family members you’d rather punch in the face, many of the Christmas customs (Christmas tree, etc.) are relatively new. Sure, it’s based on Pagan rituals, but…we don’t have to get into that.
Anyway, the upcoming whimsical biopic THE MAN WHO INVENTED CHRISTMAS is about how Charles Dickens‘ A CHRISTMAS CAROL actually created many of the modern trappings of the Christmas holiday, or at least the way we do them today. And the featurette embedded above goes into more detail about the film, and the story behind it. I must admit, that if you’re story is literally about a guy just sitting down and writing, having him talk to his creations is a pretty clever visual workaround.
Meanwhile, THE MAN WHO INVENTED CHRISTMAS will come to theaters November 22nd.
