Casey Affleck to produce and star in film about the Boston marathon bombings

On April 15th of last year, two brothers sought retribution for U.S. military action in Afghanistan and Iraq by crafting and detonating two pressure cooker bombs during the Boston Marathon. With several dead and hundreds injured, a manhunt began immediately after those responsible. Authors Casey Sherman and Dave Wedge are tackling this story with their book "Boston Strong", and now that script will be turned into a film. Screenwriters Eric Johnson and Paul Tamasy (THE FIGHTER) will write up the script and Casey Affleck is attached to produce and star in.

Casey is no stranger to playing on his home turf, having done both GOOD WILL HUNTING and GONE BABY GONE, as well as Disney's upcoming THE FINEST HOURS (also penned by Eric Johnson and Paul Tamasy) which will co-star Chris Pine. At the very least, this will lend some authenticity to some painful subject matter. Casey Affleck hasn't done too much behind the camera, but if he shares the same talent as his brother when it comes to working behind the scenes, we should be in for something compelling.

Audiences can catch Casey Affleck on the big screen in Christopher Nolan's INTERSTELLAR, which opens on November 7, 2014.
