We've known for a while that Cary Fukunaga's two-part adaptation of Stephen King's IT has been crawling toward a summer start, and now Production Weekly is reporting that the film will begin principal photography in June in New York.
Producer Seth Grahame-Smith recently had some encouraging words to share about IT, stating that we can expect some 'viciousness' in this new take on King's material:
I think that if anything, [the new film] will bring back some of the viciousness of the book that they couldn’t do with the miniseries because it was for broadcast… I think it’s going to be very scary…"
Fukunaga has still been on the search for the perfect person to play Pennywise, who was memorably (and nighmare-inducingly) played by Tim Curry in the original 1990 TV mini-series.
Here's IT's synopsis:
It’s a small city, a place as hauntingly familiar as your own hometown. Only in Derry the haunting is real… They were seven teenagers when they first stumbled upon the horror. Now they are grown-up men and women who have gone out into the big world to gain success and happiness. But none of them can withstand the force that has drawn them back to Derry to face the nightmare without an end, and the evil without a name.
More on IT as we hear it.
