Ka-chow! In celebration of Disney+ Day, Disney and Pixar‘s Cars on the Road trailer is revved up and ready to roll. Debuting exclusively on Disney+ on September 8, 2022, Cars on the Road finds Lightning McQueen and Mater burning rubber toward an unpredictable adventure across the world of Cars.
Here’s the official logline for Cars on the Road:
The Disney+ Original series follows Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) and his best friend Mater (voice of Larry the Cable Guy) as they head east from Radiator Springs on a cross-country road trip to meet up with Mater’s sister.
“The series is a romp across the country with Lightning McQueen and Mater,” says director Steve Purcell. “Like any real road trip, every day is a new mini-adventure with unexpected twists and turns.”
Disney and Pixar’s Cars on the Road trailer features plenty of surprises for fans of the franchise and introduces a caravan of new characters. Lightning McQueen and Mater’s journey takes them away from Radiator Springs, where they encounter Truckasaurus, a vehicular circus, and a Burning Man-like event that is super to gas-up fans of Mad Max: Fury Road.
Marc Sondheimer produces Cars on the Road. The series’ episodes are directed by Steve Purcell (Eps 1, 2, 8), Bobby Podesta (Eps 5, 6, 9), and Brian Fee (Eps 3, 4, 7). Composer Jake Monaco created the score for all nine episodes.
In addition to debuting the Cars on the Road trailer, Disney and Pixar also shared key art for the new animated series. You can check it out below.
