It appears that CARRIE wasn’t quite ready for the prom when it completed production last fall. Actress Chloe Grace Moretz, who plays Carrie White in Kimberly Peirce’s adaptation of the Stephen King classic, has revealed that the film recently underwent reshoots in Canada. However, there’s no cause for concern – at least, not according to Ms. Moretz.
Here is her statement to Fangoria:
“We actually prolonged the film, to be honest… We did some reshoots [in Toronto this past May], and added three extra scenes with Julianne [Moore, playing Carrie’s mother Margaret] and I to make the movie even deeper and darker. We prolonged a couple of scenes that needed to have an extra moment or an extra beat just to make it even deeper. It wasn’t about cutting anything out or trying to edit around things; it was about adding more to make the movie scarier and more intense.”
Principal photography wrapped in September of last year, but clearly Screen Gems realized CARRIE needed a bit of work. You might also recall that the film was originally scheduled to come out this past March, but was ultimately pushed to October 18th. Guess it’s a good thing they went ahead and did that.
