Carpenter, Curtis, and Green discuss new Halloween in featurette

Yesterday we shared the new trailer for Blumhouse Productions' upcoming sequel to John Carpenter's 1978 classic HALLOWEEN, and earlier today brought some attention to the much different trailer that was released in Brazil… But if you're not hyped enough for the movie just yet, there's now another piece of marketing online for you to check out.

This one is a minute long featurette that intercuts footage from the film with snippets from interviews with Carpenter, returning star Jamie Lee Curtis, and director David Gordon Green. Their focus: iconic slasher Michael Myers, "the embodiment of pure evil", and Curtis's portrayal of heroine Laurie Strode.

I'm really liking how the people involved with this film are describing Michael Myers, but my favorite part of this featurette may be the dialogue Easter egg where we find out that the events of the first film are referred to as "the babysitter murders". Before the decision was made to set the original HALLOWEEN on Halloween, the working title for that film was THE BABYSITTER MURDERS.

The new HALLOWEEN is directed by Green from a script he wrote with Jeff Fradley and Danny McBride. Carpenter served as an executive producer on the film and has composed the score with his son Cody Carpenter and godson Daniel Davies.

In this sequel, which ignores the events of the previous sequels and acknowledges only the original film,  

Laurie Strode comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.

In addition to Curtis, the cast includes Judy Greer as Laurie's daughter Karen; Andi Matichak as Laurie's granddaughter Allyson; Miles Robbins, Virginia Gardner, Dylan Arnold, and Drew Scheid as Allyson's Haddonfield High classmates; Will Patton and Rob Niter as police officers; Rhian Rees as a character named Dana; Toby Huss as Ray; and Diva Tyler as a caretaker. Original Michael Myers performer Nick Castle and stuntman James Jude Courtney both wore the mask of the boogeyman this time around.

HALLOWEEN is scheduled to reach theatres on October 19th.
