Captain Marvel writer to serve as showrunner on The Vision & Scarlet Witch

Disney's upcoming streaming service will likely be quite impressive when it launches later this year as the company have been developing many high-profile TV shows centered around the STAR WARS franchise and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One of those MCU series will be The Vision and Scarlet Witch, which will find Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen reprising the roles they've played in a handful of Marvel films such as AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, and AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR.

THR has reported that The Vision and Scarlet Witch has now landed a writer and showrunner, and it's someone whose already quite familiar with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Jac Schaeffer, one of the writers of the upcoming CAPTAIN MARVEL who has also been tasked with penning the BLACK WIDOW movie, has been tapped to serve as showrunner on The Vision and Scarlet Witch. In addition to running the series, Schaeffer will also serve as executive producer and pen the pilot episode. As we know, The Vision and Scarlet Witch isn't the only Marvel series in development for Disney+, as there's also a series set to focus on Loki, the god of mischief played by Tom Hiddleston, as well as another team up featuring Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan). It was announced last October that Malcolm Spellman (Empire) was hired to write the latter. We still don't know all that much about the type of stories which will be told in these new MCU projects, but they'll likely be shorter than the average series as it's expected that they'll be six to eight episodes in length.

Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) will next be seen in AVENGERS: ENDGAME on April 26, 2019.
