Wonder Woman 1984 was released over the weekend and this led to a lot of comic book movie talk on Twitter, particularly in regards to female-led comic book films like Birds of Prey and Captain Marvel. The Brie Larson-fronted Marvel film and the actress actually became a trending topic on Twitter over the weekend and most of it wasn't the usual visceral disdain that the film and Larson tend to get from comic book fans, in fact, a lot of it was filled with love for Carol Danvers and Brie Larson.
Here is a collection of some of the Twitter posts that emerged over the weekend that allowed Captain Marvel and Brie Larson to trend following the release of Wonder Woman 1984:

it’s time we have the conversation that men only hate Captain Marvel because she’s a powerful woman and Brie said she wasn’t playing her for men to like her. and don’t even try to say “it’s because of her attitude! she’s cocky” because those are the same reasons you love Tony. pic.twitter.com/xYR6CHJ9Cq

Brie Larson will be back as Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel 2, which will be directed by Candyman's Nia DaCosta. During the Disney Investor Day, it was revealed that both Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani) and Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) would be joining the film's cast and the sequel script is being written by Megan McDonnell, who is currently a staff writer on the Disney+ series WandaVision.
Happy to see Captain Marvel and Brie Larson getting some love and not the usual tongue lashing. I know I probably spoke too soon about that and it will likely come in waves now but it was still nice to see some positive comments about the character, film, and the actress.
