Atlanta and Space Jam: New Legacy actor Xosha Roquemore is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Captain America: New World Order. Julius Onah (The Cloverfield Paradox) is directing the fourth film in Marvel’s Captain America series from a script by The Falcon and the Winter Soldier showrunner Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson. Smoke on the street implies Roquemore is playing a pivotal role in the sequel starring Anthony Mackie as the new Captain America.

Details about Roquemore’s role remain a mystery. However, reports suggest cameras will roll on Captain America: New World Order on May 3, 2023. Roquemore joins Tim Blake Nelson (Samuel Sterns), Harrison Ford (Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross), Danny Ramirez (Joaquin Torres), Carl Lumbly (Isaiah Bradley), and Shira Haas (Sabra) in the sequel as a part of Marvel’s bold plans to continue the MCU.

In Marvel‘s Falcon and Winter Soldier series, Mackie’s Sam Wilson struggled to accept the shield to become the new Captain America. The series explores the Black superhero experience and scrutinizes the pride in wearing stars and stripes when a nation actively works to keep you down. Ultimately, Sam Wilson accepts the Captain America mantle. While the Captain America: New World Order plot remains under wraps, the story will likely continue to explore Wilson’s trepidation about taking on the role left to him by Steve Rogers.

As for Roquemore, her star continues to burn brighter after appearing in television series such as First Wives ClubBig MouthColin in Black & WhiteAtlanta, and Sherman’s Showcase with Cheese. She stars in Space Jam: A New Legacy as LeBron James’ wife, Shanice James, and Emma in the film Who Invited Charlie?

Captain America: New World Order is part of Marvel’s Phase 5 plans, which include the following films: Ant-Man and the Wasp: QuantumaniaGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3The MarvelsThunderbolts, and Blade. While many fans deem Marvel’s Phase 4 as rudderless, Phase 5 works toward establishing Kang (Jonathan Majors) as the new primary villain of the MCU and educating the masses about the concept of the Multiverse. The Multiverse opens countless doors for Marvel to do anything they damn well please, and I’m confident they’ll take full advantage.

Are you excited about Captain America: New World Order? Who do you think Xosha Roquemore plays in the upcoming film? Feel free to post your guesses in the comments.
