With so many Marvel cast-members set to show up for CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, you'd be forgiven for thinking that the film will be more like Avengers 2.5 than a Captain America sequel. According to Chris Evans, not only will the film be very Avenger's heavy, it will actually provide a lot of the set-up for the "real battle" set to take place in the AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR films.
It’s to jump off into the next Avengers, Infinity War, so Cap 3 is going to be the set-up of the real battle, so yea, there are a lot of people. There are a lot of people in Cap 3.
Here's hoping that Marvel has learned from the mistakes of the past (I'm looking at you IRON MAN 2) and that the "set-up" doesn't rob CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR of its own identity. There are ways for each of these films be enjoyable in their own right while still servicing a greater goal, something Marvel has become much better at during Phase 2 than they used to be. I have faith!
MTV also spoke with Jeremy Renner and Scarlett Johansson who revealed…nothing (surprise), other than they know which "side" their characters will be on during CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR. What do you think folks? Are Black Widow and Hawkeye team Captain America or team Iron Man? Seated next to Scarlett Johansson was Mark Ruffalo, who looked quite distraught that he hasn't been asked to make an appearance in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR. Scarlett Johansson joked around and offered to speak with the Russo's about getting Ruffalo a part. What a good friend. Joking aside, is there room for Bruce Banner/Hulk to grace CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR with his presence?
CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR squares off in theaters on May 6, 2016.
