SPOILERS for The Falcon and the Winter Solider. Consider yourself warned. With The Falcon and the Winter Soldier having wrapped up its six-episode run on Disney+ today, the future is looking bright for Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) as he takes on the mantle of Captain America, and it would seem that Marvel is eager for the character to make a return to the big-screen as THR has reported that The Falcon and the Winter Solider showrunner Malcolm Spellman is set to develop Captain America 4, which he will co-write with Dalan Musson, one of his fellow writers on the Disney+ series.
At this stage, there are very few details available about the project, but that's expected when it comes to anything Marvel-related. Captain America 4 will likely continue following Sam Wilson as he explores what it means to be Captain America, and it's not hard to imagine that a few other characters from The Falcon and the Winter Solider might pop up as well. It's not known if Chris Evans will be involved in Captain America 4 in any way, but as The Falcon and the Winter Solider didn't shed much light on the whereabouts of Steve Roger, anything could happen. There had been rumours that Evans had been in talks to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but those were shot down by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige as well as Evans himself. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier definitely left a lot up in the air by the close of its final episode, especially in regards to Sharon Carter and John Walker, and those are elements which could be picked back up in Captain America 4 or one of the many other MCU projects. What are you hoping to see in Captain America 4?
