Mark your calenders fanboys/girls, for CAPTAIN AMERICA 2 is set to toss his shield again on April 4, 2014, almost two years to the date.
Here’s the official announcement:
The Walt Disney Studios has announced a release date for Marvel Studios’ sequel to the blockbuster Captain America: The First Avenger on April 4, 2014. The second installment will pick-up where the highly anticipated Marvel’s The Avengers (May 4, 2012) leaves off, as Steve Rogers continues his affiliation with Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D and struggles to embrace his role in the modern world.
And here’s the new pic (from THE AVENGERS):
I’m a big fan of Cap, so this is great news for me. I know some people are less enthused about the character, but perhaps they will be swayed by THE AVENGERS. Picking up right after that film is a good way to go and keeping Cap rooted with S.H.I.E.L.D. is consistent with his comic roots. I’m hoping we get some flashback action tied in with a modern day story. Perhaps we’ll see Cap’s current flame Agent Sharon Carter (the granddaughter of Peggy) and the Winter Soldier. Ah, let the speculation begin…
IRON MAN 3 debuts on May 3, 2013 and THOR 2 hits on November 15, 2013, followed by Cap 2, so once again we have a nice three-course Marvel dinner on the way.
