Cap and Bucky square off in new concept art for Captain America: The Winter Soldier!

Today, we have a peek at some new concept art from CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER, featuring what looks like an epic battle sequence with Steve Rogers aka Captain America (Chris Evans) squaring off against his former ally-turned-enemy, Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan). Cap looks to be rocking his WWII uniform, while Barnes is unmasked, which tells me this very well may be from the final battle, possibly on the S.H.I.E.L.D. Triskelion. In the background you can see The Falcon (Anthony Mackie) laying down some lead from the sky, while a battle rages between what looks like soldiers (S.H.I.E.L.D.?) and airships, one of which is a funky-looking craft we’ve not seen before. The piece comes from Ryan Meinerding, who is no stranger to Marvel concept art.

With filming still underway on CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER and a verified presence at Comic Con this year, I can only speculate that we’ll see some footage late next week. Whether or not that goes out to the masses is another story, but you can count on us to share the info. In addition, there will be a presentation for THOR: THE DARK WORLD, which could very well yield a new trailer. Any way you slice it, Marvel is gearing up for its next entries in Phase Two of their Cinematic Universe and like many of you, I’m beyond stoked to see ’em.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and starring Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Emily VanCamp, Toby Jones, Hayley Atwell, and Robert Redford hits on April 4, 2014.
