Not only does writer/director Robert Krzykowski's upcoming film THE MAN WHO KILLED HITLER AND THEN THE BIGFOOT have one of the greatest titles of all time, but it also has Sam Elliott signed on to play "The Man" of the title, so it's likely to be one of the greatest movies of all time.
Elliott's character is
a legendary American war veteran named Calvin Barr who, decades after serving in WWII and assassinating Adolf Hitler, must now hunt down the fabled Bigfoot. Living a peaceful life in New England, the former veteran is contacted by the FBI and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to lead the charge as the creature is carrying a deadly plague and is hidden deep inside the Canadian wilderness.
Calvin will have a "Lovely Girl" waiting at home for him while he's on his collision course with Hitler, and Caitlin FitzGerald, best known for playing Libby Masters on Masters of Sex, has signed on to play that Lovely Girl. Really, that's how the character is credited. Lovely Girl. She is
an intelligent, sweet, sincere and outspoken schoolteacher girlfriend of young Calvin just before he goes off to fight in World War II. She makes it clear that she has feelings for him and he does as well, but he never gets the nerve to ask her to marry him. She waits for his return from the war and writes him in his absence.
The young Calvin will be played by Aidan Turner. Elliott takes over the role when the story jumps ahead 40+ years to show Calvin tracking Bigfoot in 1987.
I was already all in for this movie, but now that I know the "Elliott vs. Bigfoot" portion is set in the '80s I'm even more excited for it.
