Scott Derrickson has some friendly allies helping him piece together DOCTOR STRANGE.
C. Robert Cargill has revealed that he is co-writing the film with his SINISTER partner-in-crime and has been working on the project for the past year as Marvel Studios has been positioning the Sorcerer Supreme for his Phase Three introduction.
So yeah. It’s finally out in the wild. I’ve been working on this for the better part of the last year. pic.twitter.com/BTZDaItsbt

Cargill penned both SINISTER films with Derrickson, in addition to the DEUS EX adaptation they’ve been working on since 2012 and THE OUTER LIMITS film they have in the works at MGM.
What this means for the Jon Spaights script that was believed to be the starting point for DOCTOR STRANGE remains a mystery. Spaights was brought in for a page one rewrite that would thrust Stephen Strange into being an established character already in the MCU and not the subject of another origin story. Has that screenplay been scrapped for Derrickson and Cargill to put their own fingerprints on DOCTOR STRANGE? Are they adding to it, using Spaights’ work as a blueprint/foundation? I’m sure we’ll learn a bit further on in the process, but, for now, this sounds like good news for DOCTOR STRANGE.
If you’re going to ask for a filmmaker to do his best work, you might as well surround him with those that help him in accomplishing that mission. Derrickson and Cargill have worked solidly as a team in the past, so let’s see if that continues with a film of this magnitude.
DOCTOR STRANGE will bring his magic to theaters on November 4, 2016.
