A trailer has been released online for the Kiwi slasher horror comedy Buzz Cut, which is coming soon from Black Mandala. I love slasher movies, and this one looks like a good time to me. Check out the trailer in the embed above and see what you think of it!
Written and directed by Martin Renner, Buzz Cut is described as being a “cheeky and politically incorrect film, which also pays homage to the most hardcore slasher movies”. The press release also mentions “there’s no shortage of pretty girls, nudity, and a bloody maniac.”
The Hash House Harriers (“a drinking club with a running problem”) encounter a killer Bee Keeper in a crazy Kiwi horror-comedy that is part Animal House and part 80’s slasher movie.
The film stars Phoenix Cross (D&D Logic), Benjamin Hudson (The Wilds), Zoë Helen Boyle (Immi the Vegan), Ashton Brown (Shortland Street), and genre veterans Linnea Quigley (The Return of the Living Dead) and Donna Wilkes (Angel… the 1983 movie, not the vampire TV show).
Wilkes also produced Buzz Cut with Renner. Michael Kraetzer, Nicolás Onetti, and Dale Rees served as associate producers.
A release date for Buzz Cut has not yet been announced, but we’ll let you know when those details are available.
In addition to the trailer, we also got our hands on the film’s very cool poster, which would fit right in alongside promotional art for old school slasher classics. You can stare at that at the bottom of this article. The poster was already enough to sell me on this movie even before I watched the trailer and found out Linnea Quigley and Donna Wilkes are in it.
