Later this year, Universal Home Entertainment will be releasing a new entry in the TREMORS franchise, and while we wait to hear a solid release date for this sequel (star Michael Gross, pictured above in the original movie, said it might come out in May), Screen Rant got their hands on a batch of images from the film that give an early look at the characters while keeping the monsters they'll be fighting hidden.
The sixth TREMORS movie, this one is titled TREMORS: A COLD DAY IN HELL. Gross is back in the role of survivalist / monster hunter Burt Gummer (one of my most beloved cinematic characters), and is joined in the cast by TREMORS 5 co-star Jamie Kennedy, Tanya van Graan, Rob van Vuuren, Greg Kriek, and Keeno Lee Hector.
Directed by TREMORS 5's Don Michael Paul from a screenplay by TREMORS 3 and 5 writer John Whelpley, the film has the following synopsis:
Burt Gummer (Gross) and his son Travis Welker (Kennedy) find themselves up to their ears in Graboids and Ass-Blasters when they head to Canada to investigate a series of deadly giant-worm attacks. Arriving at a remote research facility in the artic tundra, Burt begins to suspect that Graboids are secretly being weaponized, but before he can prove his theory, he is sidelined by Graboid venom. With just 48 hours to live, the only hope is to create an antidote from fresh venom — but to do that, someone will have to figure out how to milk a Graboid!
While there's no hint in these pictures of the snow-coated landscape the synopsis may have you imagining, Burt is certainly dressed to be taking on enemies in the snow. Seeing him wearing this new outfit for this new location reminds me of how companies will sometime release toys like "Arctic Batman", with the superhero dressed for snowy action just like Burt is here.
We'll let you know when Universal officially announces a release date for TREMORS: A COLD DAY IN HELL. That's information I am very eager to learn myself.
