Burns, Stowell, and Bishe to star in an episode of Amazing Stories reboot

A reboot of the short-lived '80s anthology series Amazing Stories has been in the works for years now, and we have heard shockingly little about it. It doesn't help that the initial showrunner Bryan Fuller ended up leaving the project (so there's no telling what happened to the scripts Patton Oswalt, Kumail Nanjiani, Emily Gordon, and Jane Goldman were meant to write at one point), but Once Upon a Time's Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz have been running the show since earlier this year.

The first details on an episode have now been revealed: Edward Burns has signed on to executive produce an episode and star in it as a government agent named Bill Kaminski.

Mark Mylod, whose credits include Shameless, Game of Thrones, and the Once Upon a Time pilot, will be directing the episode.

Burns' co-stars will include Austin Stowell of COLOSSAL and RED STATE's Kerry Bishé (pictured above), both of whom have worked with Burns before. Stowell was in all ten episodes of Burns' TNT television series Public Morals. Bishé was in two episodes of that show, and was also in Burns' films NICE GUY JOHNNY, NEWLYWEDS, and THE FITZGERALD FAMILY CHRISTMAS.

Produced by Universal Television and Amblin Television, Amazing Stories is now filming in Atlanta.

Created by Steven Spielberg (who directed Burns in SAVING PRIVATE RYAN), Amazing Stories aims to

transport the audience to worlds of wonder through the lens of today’s most imaginative filmmakers, directors and writers.

The first season of the revival will consist of ten episodes and will be available for viewing through the Apple streaming service.
