VMI Releasing, the newly formed distribution arm of the sales firm VMI Worldwide, has picked up the North American distribution rights to the horror film Burial Ground Massacre, starring iconic character actor Michael Madsen. A first look image gives a look at Madsen’s character in the film, and you can check that out below. VMI Releasing is planning to bring Burial Ground Massacre to digital platforms on September 3rd.
Directed by David Gere and Daniel Dahlstrom from a screenplay Gere wrote with Eric Weinstock, Burial Ground Massacre tells the story of
a group of college students who spend a night at an old, eerie manor, only to realize that a terrifying stalker is watching their every move.
That’s quite a familiar set-up, but when you pair that scenario with the title Burial Ground Massacre and the presence of Madsen in the cast, you get a movie that I want to see. If Madsen turns out to be playing the killer who commits the titular massacre, even better.
Madsen is joined in the cast by Chelsea Vale (Vault) and Travis Gordon (Ring of Honor Wrestling). Vale also produced the film alongside Chad Verdi, Chad A. Verdi Jr., and Paul Luba.
Burial Ground Massacre was filmed after the pandemic hit, and Chad Verdi had this to say about the production:
Filming during COVID-19 was not an easy task, to say the least. We are very proud of the outcome of this film and happy to have teamed up with VMI.”
It looks like Burial Ground Massacre will be kicking off a franchise, because certain people involved with the film (I won’t say who and, I assume, spoil which characters survive this one) also have a movie called Burial Ground Massacre: Reborn listed on their IMDb pages. That sequel is apparently already in post-production.
