Buffy The Vampire Slayer remake loses scribe, possibly losing steam?

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

To those wholeheartedly against a BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER remake, perhaps this news will appease…

The L.A. Times has gotten word that the script for the remake, written by feature first-timer Whit Anderson, was utterly rejected when turned in recently. As a result, a new writer is being sought after. However, with this recent stall, and considering the widespread outcry against the remake from fans, the project may be falling apart rather than taking shape. Again, I’m sure there are more than a few who wouldn’t mind that!

From the Times:

“If you’re going to bring it back, you have to do it right,” one key player in the project told Hero Complex. “[Anderson] came in with some great ideas and she had reinvented some of the lore and it was pretty cool but in the end there just wasn’t enough on the page.”

Well, if it’s not on the page, it’s never going to be on the screen. Maybe Joss Whedon has been vindicated here, we all know how averse to this remake he was when it was announced a few months ago. I guess we’ll see how things shape up.

Original Buffy, Kristy Swanson
