Belated sequels usually aren't very good – for every MAD MAX: FURY ROAD and BLADE RUNNER: 2049, there's BLUES BROTHERS 2000 and SON OF MASK. But, who knows? The original cast (minus George Carlin, for obvious reasons) – including Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter – are returning, as are the original writers and creators Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson, and it's being directed by Dean Parisot, who directed the wonderful GALAXY QUEST. So there's at least the pedigree behind it. And if it's bringing everybody back including Reeves (who isn't hurting for money, with the JOHN WICK series and MATRIX 4 on the way), there's gotta be something to this sequel, right?
Here's the official synopsis:
Now enduring the monotony of middle-aged life, William "Bill" S. Preston, Esq. and Ted "Theodore" Logan are warned by a visitor from the future of the need for them to create a song in 78 minutes that will save all life on Earth and the entire universe. The pair work with their families, old friends, famous musicians, and each other to complete the task.
Meanwhile, series co-creator and co-writer Ed Solomon has just released a behind-the-scenes tweet showcasing Bill and Ted themselves – Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter – rehearsing with director Dean Parisot. You can see the tweet below:
BILL AND TED FACE THE MUSIC will be released August 14th…but we'll keep you updated if there are any changes or delays.
So what do you guys think? Excited for the return of the titular BILL AND TED? Either way, sound off below!
