Now that we've gotten a chance to peep the final trailer for X-MEN: APOCALYPSE, we know for a fact that Hugh Jackman will be showing up in some capacity as Wolverine. However, that's the extent of our knowledge. We don't exactly know what he'll be doing there, how much of a role he might have or what his involvement might mean for the greater X-MEN Universe, given Jackman's time as the character is running short (He'll be done as of the next solo Wolverine film).
Of course that has led to some digging on the matter with Empire hoping to get concrete answers from director Bryan Singer… as if he was going to provide them. However, Singer did answer with enough vagueness to say something without really saying anything that should keeps fans speculating on what he actually meant right up until the film's release.
Make of that what you want. I will say, it’s not simple. There’s something more pivotal that occurs with that. It hints to a sequence that again fits within the canon of all six movies, and the birth of a new direction. It’s not insignificant, nor is it simply just a throw-in… It’s not the only shot you’re gonna see, let’s put it that way.
Not simple? Something more pivotal? Birth of a new direction? Not insignifiant but not a throw-in? What the hell does any or some or all of this mean? Your guess is as good as mine, but we'll find out with much more clarity when X-MEN: APOCALYPSE hits theaters on May 27. Commence your month of speculation.
