Bearing the mark SNTL2 on it’s leg, director Bryan Singer has unveiled our first full look at a Sentinel from the in production X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. Up until now we have seen the photos of the scale model from Comic Con a few weeks ago alongside the fleeting glimpses of the robotic monstrosities in the viral Trask Industries video. But, now we can fully appreciate the size of the cinematic creations that will pose a major threat for the mutant superheroes.
Designed by Bolivar Trask (Peter Dinklage), the Sentinels have been an ongoing threat since their introduction in the comics. A key adversary in the Days of Future Past comic, the big screen version appears a lot more like an evil creation from Apple rather than the humanoid version on the written page. While I am sure these are the initial version and we will get to see a much larger version once the future sequences kick in during the film, it is still amazing to see them finally coming to light.
Bryan Singer tweeted the image below showing him standing next to a Sentinel in prime condition. Hopefully we get to see more in action when the trailer finally hits. For now, we can see that the robot can be unassuming enough to act as the sentry it is marketed as to the public, but under that featureless face lies a powerful A.I. with the intent to destroy all mutants.
