This Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs will face off against the San Francisco 49ers for Super Bowl LIV, and while it may be one of the biggest sporting events of the year, it also happens to be one of the biggest platforms for movie trailers and over-the-top commercials. Today we bring you a Super Bowl commercial which finds Bryan Cranston recreating Stanley Kubrick's THE SHINING in order to sell us…Mountain Dew Zero Sugar. Makes sense. The commercial also features Tracee Ellis Ross (Black-ish) in the Wendy Torrence role, and be sure to stick around to the very end for an image that will haunt your dreams for the rest of your days.
If you're hungry for more from the world of THE SHINING without the sickly green glow of Mountain Dew, then you'll probably want to check out DOCTOR SLEEP, which will be hitting DVD/Blu-ray/4K Ultra HD in just a few days in along with a brand-new three-hour Director's Cut. That's a lot of movie. The Director's Cut is said to feature nearly 30 minutes of new, alternate, and extended scenes selected by director Mike Flanagan which weren't seen in theaters. "There are some big new scenes, for sure. I don’t want to spoil any of that, but I can say that there is new material throughout (including in the final act at the Overlook). Some of my favorite stuff involved Young Danny and Wendy (there’s some terrific material with Alex Essoe that I’m thrilled is restored here), and will be familiar to fans of the book. There’s also a fair amount of new stuff involving young Abra in the film’s first act, learning about her shine, and how it affects her parents." Flanagan said. "All in all, I think this cut is more literary than the theatrical cut. It very much feels like reading a novel… and is even broken into chapters, which gave this cut a very fun structure. I’m very proud of it and so grateful that it’ll be available to fans."
DOCTOR SLEEP is available on Digital right now, and will be released on DVD/Blu-ray/4K Ultra HD on February 4, 2020.
