Bruce Campbell isn’t sure when Ash Vs. Evil Dead season 3 premieres

Although I'm a big fan of the Starz television series Ash vs. Evil Dead, I am looking forward to the show's third season with a bit of nervousness. The season finale of season two was messy and compromised, as it marked the moment when showrunner Craig DiGregorio decided to leave the show over creative differences. When the series returns to Starz it will be under the guidance of new showrunner Mark Verheiden, and I'm hoping the transition to a new showrunner will be a smooth one after that bumpy finale.

While I've been concerning myself with that issue, I didn't even realize that it was getting strangely late in the year without Starz announcing a premiere date for season three yet. I was under the assumption that the new season would start airing in October, just like the previous two seasons did. But that may not be the case.

On Ash vs. Evil Dead, star Bruce Campbell reprises his THE EVIL DEAD / EVIL DEAD II / ARMY OF DARKNESS role of

Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons – personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip.

During an interview with RedCarpetCrash, Campbell was asked when season three is going to premiere and said:

Hey, when you hear the date let me know. Starz has said a couple different things about possibly shifting the premiere date to try and get a cleaner slot within the year. So we don't know. It'll be fall or first quarter 2018, is my guess."

The season wrapped production at the end of June, and Campbell seemed very proud of the ninth and tenth episodes, believing they will help the show get renewed for a fourth season:

We blew the doors off with episodes nine and ten this season. At the end of season three, hopefully you will need to pick your jaw up off the floor when you see what we've done, the way we've wrapped up the season. It's pretty big. Nothing will ever be the same by the end of this season. Everything you think is true is not, everything you think is not true is, so it's a big whopper of a tale. I think, honestly, Starz is excited about the outcome and I think they want to see those in finished form, and that will help them make their decision. But I know that they really dig the last two episodes, and it may be enough…"

Details on season three are scarce, but we do know that the show will be introducing Ash's teenage daughter.

DiGregorio had planned to give Ash a daughter as well, but with a twist – through time travel shenanigans, he was going to have Ash's sidekick Kelly (Dana DeLorenzo) become his daughter. That didn't happen, but DeLorenzo is back for season three, starring alongside Campbell, Ray Santiago, Michelle Hurd, Lucy Lawless, and new series regular Arielle Carver-O'Neill.

Whenever Starz decides on a season three premiere date, we will share the news.
