I haven't seen director Sean Baker's drama THE FLORIDA PROJECT, but word is that Brooklynn Prince (pictured above with Willem Dafoe in a scene from the film) turns in such a great performance as the lead character, a six-year-old named Moonee who "courts mischief and adventure with her ragtag playmates and bonds with her rebellious but caring mother", some viewers are even rooting for the child actress to get an Oscar nomination.
We'll see how that pans out, and I'll get around to seeing THE FLORIDA PROJECT some day, but in the meantime Prince has already secured a role in another film – Amblin Entertainment's haunted house thriller THE TURNING.
Mackenzie Davis and Finn Wolfhard are also signed on to star in THE TURNING, which is "a loose adaptation" of the Henry James novella The Turn of the Screw – a story which famously served as the inspiration for the 1961 film THE INNOCENTS.
Veteran music video director Floria Sigismondi (THE RUNAWAYS) is directing this adaptation from a screenplay written by Jade Bartlett, Chad Hayes, and Carey Hayes. The film will delve into what happens when
a young woman hired as the nanny to two orphans is convinced that the country mansion they live in is haunted.
I think it's safe to assume that Davis is playing the nanny, with Prince and Wolfhard as the two orphans.
