Britney Spears might be trying to become a movie critic during her downtime in quarantine. The princess of pop took to Instagram to share her thoughts on DOLITTLE and the Robert Downey Jr. box office bomb clearly has a fan in Spears.
Britney Spears posted a fairly lengthy review of the film on her official Instagram page and you can either find her love of the film endearing or think she could be loopy from the days in isolation because her positive assessment is way off from the 15% rotten score the film received on Rotten Tomatoes. Spears certainly seems passionate about her love for the film although she said she was "enamored by the jackets and clothing" and "got lost" a few times because of it so maybe we should take her critique with a grain of salt:
Spears also seems to think it's "brilliant" that he can talk to animals in the film, although that is the overall premise of the film which has Robert Downey Jr. playing a physician who can, indeed, talk to animals. Will Britney Spears' winning endorsement be enough for the studio to forget about the production problems surrounding the film and its dismal box office? Most likely not but I guess it can't hurt to have fans in high places. Spears does have 23.5 million Instagram followers and I'm sure some of them got the film via on-demand thanks to her humbling words about the film. As you can see, I'm trying to make the best out of Spears's hilariously positive words about the movie.
DOLITTLE was released back in January to an opening weekend of $21.8 million which would've been decent had the film not cost upwards of $175 million to make. The film made up some ground overseas but its worldwide gross of $223.3 million still means the studio lost money on the project. Whatever money the film did make is thanks to Robert Downey Jr. who is still a favorite with moviegoers but only he can do so much.
Do YOU think DOLITTLE deserved better? Should Britney Spears consider a second career as a film critic? Should WE recommend better movies for her to watch during quarantine?
