There's been quite a exhaustive search for just the right actress to fill the shoes of Carol Danvers in CAPTAIN MARVEL, and according to Variety, they may have their sights set on Brie Larson (ROOM). Their sources tell them that Marvel is currently in early talks with Larson to play the character and that she seems to be their first choice. They also say that she seems keen on playing the part. Speaking as a big fan of Brie Larson, it'd be great to see what she'd do with a role like this.
Kevin Feige said in April that they would be announcing a director for CAPTAIN MARVEL within the next month or two as well as some cast members by the end of summer. Seems like things are on track. Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman are currently working on the script, which chronicles the adventures of "Carol Danvers, an air force pilot whose DNA is fused with that of an alien during an accident. The resulting alteration imbues her with the super powers of strength, energy project and flight." Given that Marvel seems to like casting these main roles early, I think it'd be safe to say that we'll likely see Carol Danvers pop up in another Marvel flick before her own standalone film is released on March 8, 2019.
Sound off folks, would Brie Larson make for a good Captain Marvel?
