Brett Goldstein didn’t tell his parents about his Thor: Love and Thunder cameo

Brett Goldstein, Thor: Love and Thunder, cameo

SPOILERS for Thor: Love and Thunder. The latest Marvel Cinematic Universe movie hit theaters earlier this month, which means that we’ve spent the past several weeks discussing every little piece. Like most MCU movies, Thor: Love and Thunder featured a few surprising cameos, including Ted Lasso‘s Brett Goldstein.

If you’re still with us, you’ll know that Brett Goldstein popped up in the post-credits scene of Thor: Love and Thunder as Hercules, son of Zeus (Russell Crowe). Although Goldstein didn’t have much to do (or say) in the scene, it set the stage for a much larger role down the road. Marvel is notorious for its secrecy, so Brett Goldstein didn’t even tell his parents about his Thor cameo.

I didn’t tell anyone. I didn’t tell my family. They put a chip in me that would explode if I f—ing spoke about it. It was terrifying.

Even after the film hit theaters, Brett Goldstein didn’t clue them in, only saying that they should go see it. “I sent them a text saying, ‘I’ve just seen Thor! It’s really good! I think you’d enjoy it. You should go,’” Goldstein said. “They went, and my mum kept texting me during the film. I’ve always said to her, ‘Don’t f—ing text during the film!’ She’s texting me, ‘This is funny!’ I’m like, ‘Stop texting and watch the f—ing film!’” Her texting almost caused her to miss her son’s cameo. “It gets to the end, and like 10 seconds before I’m on, she’s texting me, ‘Russell Crowe’s back on, he’s funny!’” Goldstein said. “And I went, ‘Look up at the f—ing screen!’ I’m like, if she misses this, she’s going to walk out and go, ‘Well, I enjoyed the film. I don’t know why you sent us.’” Goldstein added that his dad “keeps calling himself Zeus, so that’s an issue.” Brett Goldstein is currently shooting the third season of Ted Lasso, which is expected to be the last for the Apple TV series.
