A couple of great actors have been added to the cast of LIVE BY NIGHT, the upcoming big screen take on the Dennis Lehane novel of the same name from Ben Affleck. Deadline and The Wrap are reporting (respectively) that Brendan Gleeson and Anthony Michael Hall have been cast in the adaptation, joining Affleck, Zoe Saldana, Chris Cooper, Scott Eastwood, Sienna Miller, Elle Fanning, Chris Messina and Max Casella.
Gleeson will play the police captain father of Joe (Affleck) and Danny (Eastwood) Coughlin, while Hall will play a Southern bootlegger who comes into conflict with Affleck’s character.
Synopsis:
By 1926, Prohibition in the United States had given rise to an endless network of underground distilleries, speakeasies, gangsters, and corrupt cops. Joe Coughlin, the youngest son of a prominent Boston police captain, defies his proper upbringing by climbing a ladder of organized crime that takes him from Boston to Ybor City, Florida, to Havana, Cuba, where he encounters a dangerous cast of characters who are all fighting for their piece of the American dream.
Production on LIVE BY NIGHT kicked off late last month with Affleck directing from his own script, and the crime drama is expected to hit theaters sometime in 2017.
