Brendan Fraser joins DC Universe’s live-action Doom Patrol as Robotman

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

I've always been a big fan of Brendan Fraser and it's been lovely to see him back in action once again these past few years, and the actor will soon be joining the DC Universe as Deadline has reported that he's set to play Robotman in the upcoming live-action Doom Patrol series for DC's new streaming service. Exciting!

Before he became Robotman, Cliff Steele was a former race-car driver who was involved in a horrific accident which left his body uninhabitable, but the mysterious Dr. Caulder was able to save Cliff's brain and place it in a powerful robotic body. In addition to providing the voice for Robotman, Brendan Fraser will also appear in flashback sequences as Cliffe Steele. Riley Shanahan will provide the physical performance of Robotman in a full body costume. Set to debut on DC Universe, Doom Patrol will be a "reimagining of one of DC’s strangest group of outcasts: Robotman (Fraser), Negative Man, Elasti-Woman (April Bowlby) and Crazy Jane (Diane Guerrero). Led by the mysterious Dr. Niles Caulder they’re called into action by the ultimate hero for the digital age, Cyborg (Joivan Wade). Banding together these rejects find themselves on a mission that will take them to the weirdest and most unexpected corners of the DC universe." I wasn't sure whether or not I'd be watching Doom Patrol, but Brendan Fraser's involvement guarantees that I'll be checking it out at the very least.

If you'd like more information about the DC Universe app, our own Editor-in-Chief Paul Shirey got the chance to get a hands-on demo at San Diego Comic-Con which you can check out right here!
