Gavin O'Connor, director of the recently released Ben Affleck flick THE ACCOUNTANT, is heading several decades into the past for his next feature, a World War II drama titled ATLANTIC WALL which Deadline reports will star Bradley Cooper. The script, which was featured on 2015's Black List, comes from Zach Dean (DEADFALL) and production is looking to get underway on location in Normandy in 2018.
ATLANTIC WALL will tell the story of a lone American paratrooper (Bradley Cooper) who finds himself stranded behind enemy lines just days before D-Day as he's tasked with delivering intelligence critical to the outcome of the war (isn't it always?) and compelled to fulfill a promise to protect the young son of a murdered ally. Imperative Entertainment's Dan Friedkin said that "we’re thrilled Imperative is bringing Atlantic Wall to life on screen with a talented filmmaker like Gavin [and] Bradley’s phenomenal track record speaks for itself. He’s perfect to portray our complicated, often reluctant hero. We can’t imagine better creative partners." Although there have been countless movies centered around WWII over the years, they're certainly tough to beat when they're done well.
As production on ATLANTIC WALL is still a good year away, it will give Bradley Cooper plenty of time to direct, produce and star in A STAR IS BORN. The remake will serve as Cooper's directorial debut and also star Lady Gaga, who will be composing new music for the film. A STAR IS BORN is set for a September 28, 2018 release.
