Boyd Holbrook stars as John McBride in the new horror film The Cursed and we had the chance to interview him about the project.
In the film, “during the late nineteenth century, brutal land baron Seamus Laurent slaughters a Roma clan, unleashing a curse on his family and village. In the days that follow, the townspeople are plagued by nightmares, Seamus’s son Edward goes missing, and a boy is found murdered. The locals suspect a wild animal, but visiting pathologist John McBride warns of a more sinister presence lurking in the woods.”
The Cursed premiered at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival under the title Eight For Silver and currently holds a 74% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes with a consensus that reads, “For a werewolf movie, The Cursed is frustratingly lacking in killer instinct – but its intriguing addition to well-worn mythology add some necessary bite.” Our own Chris Bumbray caught the movie while it was at Sundance, writing, “While it’s not a stone-cold classic of the genre, The Cursed nonetheless has a few truly striking moments and a couple of gruesome sequences that stand out from the pack. It’s an enjoyable horror thriller that should earn some fans once it comes out, and is worth keeping an eye out for if you’re into this genre.”
