To this point in her career, all of filmmaker Shana Feste's work could be found in the drama section. She has directed the films THE GREATEST, COUNTRY STRONG, BOUNDARIES (pictured above), and the remake of ENDLESS LOVE, and co-wrote the 2014 film YOU'RE NOT YOU for director George C. Wolfe. Now she's set to switch genres for her new film RUN SWEETHEART RUN, which is described as a "feminist horror-thriller".
A collaboration between the production companies Blumhouse, Automatik, and Quiet Girl, RUN SWEETHEART RUN is being produced by Feste, Jason Blum, and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, with Jen Besser executive producing and Bea Sequeira overseeing the project for Blumhouse.
Feste will be directing from her own script. The film will show what happens when
a blind date turns violent and the woman has to get home on foot through Los Angeles as she’s pursued by her date.
That's a simple set-up, but also one that I find to be very promising.
Casting for RUN SWEETHEART RUN will begin soon, with production expected to begin in the fall. Feste's BOUNDARIES is currently in theatres. The next Blumhouse release is THE FIRST PURGE, which comes out this week.
