Over the past few years we've seen quite a few revivals of once popular television shows, and unfortunately, not all of them have proven to be worthy of such a resurrection. One of the most anticipated is undoubtedly Twin Peaks, the David Lynch series which followed FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) as he investigated the murder of homecoming queen Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee) in the town of Twin Peaks, Washington. The series lasted just two seasons before it was cancelled in the early 90's, but now, over twenty-five years later, Twin Peaks is back! With just a little over a week to go before the premiere of Twin Peaks' third season, Showtime has released a new teaser which gives us a glimpse at several new characters as well as a few old ones, including the late Miguel Ferrer as Albert Rosenfield.
Much like the series itself, exactly what Twin Peaks' return will bring is still largely a mystery, but I think it's safe to say that the eighteen-episode season will contain several cups of damn good coffee, a slice or two of pie and a helping of WTF. When asked by Wired if he had been thinking of the series over the years, David Lynch said that he "would sort of think about it from time to time—about the world and the people and how much I loved both those things. You just picture the characters in the place."
Twin Peaks will debut on Showtime on May 21st.
