Born may be dead

It may be a sad day for Clive Barker/Guillermo Del Toro fans. BORN, the live action/claymation horror film co-written by Barker and executive produced by Del Toro may not be happening anytime soon.

Jennifer Connelly, rumored star of the film, has shot down reports that her and husband Paul Bettany have been locked as the claymation artist and his wife who encounter clay figures that presage real-life nightmares.

…while in town to promote her new Focus Features drama RESERVATION ROAD, Connelly revealed to Fango that she and Bettany, at least, are out of the picture. “That was something of a false report,” she says of the couple’s commitment to the film. “We’ve been circling around various different things at different points, and we’d love to work together, but we haven’t settled on anything yet.”

With the Bettany duo out of the picture, it is back to the drawing board to bring a dynamic couple to grace the screen. The Chiodo Brothers FX company (creators of KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE) are slated to handle the claymation for the film, while directorial duties will still be handled by Daniel Simpson.

Lets hope the project can get off the ground and revive this rare yet enjoyable style of horror film!
